CHARLES GEORGE COPELAND (American, 1858-1945) “THE FISH TRAP”. Watercolor coastal scene shows a beach area ending in seaweed covered rocks with a pole and net system arranged into the surf. Signed lower right “Charles Copeland”. Housed in a modern molded wood frame with colored and white matte. Written on back “No. 5 The Fish Trap Criehaven, ME”. Also, modern writing indicating “Purchased from the Estate of Charles Copeland”. This scene on the island of Vinalhaven, Maine off the coast of Thomaston, Maine, an area that Copeland knew well as he was born in this town and painted Maine scenes. SIZE: Sight: 17″ x 23″.
