*PARKER CHE GRADE DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 174549. Built on an “O” frame with 28″ Damascus steel bbls choked FULL/FULL with matted rib, sgl bead, and doll’s head extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. Receiver is beautifully engraved with large vignettes of bird dogs on each side & the fabulous scene of a large rooster pheasant in a woodland scene on the floorplate, possibly enhanced. All surrounded with about 70% fine foliate arabesque patterns & a wide border. Engraving has all been enhanced with the game scenes cut to deep relief. Wood is nicely figured English walnut with checkered splinter forearm & pistol grip stock with teardrop side panels, 14″ over a solid red pad. Accompanied by a Parker letter indicating shipment Sept. 12, 1917 to Frederick T. Holmes of Nordhoff, CA. Letter lists specifications as 13-3/4″ LOP and weighing 5 lbs. 13 oz. Current specifications are: Drop at the heel 2-3/4″, drop at the comb 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs. 12.6 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain about 95% strong orig Damascus pattern with wear at the muzzle & breech ends. Balance of the metal & the wood retain most of a professionally restored finish.
