NEW HAVEN ARMS VOLCANIC CARBINE. Cal. 41. SN K283. Fine volcanic carbine, 21” oct bbl with integral magazine tube, German silver front sight blade with receiver mounted sheet metal adjustable rear sight. It has very nicely grained checkered walnut stock with straight grip and crescent brass buttplate with faceted tang. The receiver is very nicely engraved with arabesque patterns on the sides with a sunburst & flower at the rear edges. The top of the receiver is also engraved which extends down over the top tang. The serial number is on the left side of the lever, right side of the lower tang, on the wood, under the buttplate tang and inside the buttplate tang. All of the stock screws and buttplate screws also bear the complete serial number. The assembly number, “3010”, appears on the left side of the lower tang and inside each of the side plates. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain a dark plum/brown patina with some silvered areas in the gullets. Receiver has lightly worn edges with crisp engraving and traces of original nickel finish, strong on the bottom of the receiver. Lever and hammer are a dark brown patina. Buttstock is sound with a large rub on each side and usual handling and use marks and retains 93-95% original bright varnish. Mechanics are fine with a strong bore with lots of shine and scattered heavy pitting. 4-52465 JR253 (12,500-17,500)
