KARL VILLERANDT (Mid 20th Century) FIVE WORKS. Four are hand painted relief carvings of ships. The Fifth is a painting on board of the U.S. Chesapeake being captured by the H. M. S. Shannan. Described as follows: 1) 24” x 27” self framed relief carving of a tall ship coming towards the viewer. Signed lower left and dated “1951”. 2) 12” x 18” self framed painting of a three-mast tall ship sailing right to left. Signed “KV 33”. 3) 12-1/2” x 15” self framed relief carved and painted four-mast tall ship sailing left to right. Signed lower right “KV”. 4) 6” x 10” self framed relief carved and painted four-mast tall ship sailing left to right. Signed lower right “KV”. 5) 12” x 16” oil on board in an oak frame with white liner showing two ship battling. Signed “KV 60”. CONDITION: Generally good. 9-28442 (800-1200)
