PAIR OF ENGLISH PATE SUR PATE VASES. Last quarter 19th c. This fine pair of dark green ground vases, each of flattened oviform with short neck and everted rim decorated with holly leaf garland and with simulated ring handles. The first vase with flattened panel decorated with a seated maiden on rock fishing with a putti between olive trees. The second depicting a maiden removing fish from line, the young child looking on, net in left hand. NOTE: The unsigned and unmarked pair being offered is virtually identical to similar pair documented vases. One marked with the signature “Schenck” and the second marked with the monogram of “Marc Louis Solon”. SIZE: 6″H x 4-3/4″W x 3-3/4″D PROVENANCE: From a private Connecticut home.
