LARGE CLASSICAL CARVED MAHOGANY PIER TABLE. Second quarter 19th century, New York or Philadelphia. The rectangular figured top above an ogee molded frieze raised on frontal scrolled and acanthus carved frontal supports. Ogee molded back panel framing a rectangular mirror plate, all joined to a shaped shelf with incurved sides raised on scrolling acanthus carved frontal legs. Rear legs are rectangular blocks. SIZE: 39-1/2″ h x 48″ w x 23-1/2″ d. CONDITION: With old, if not original, surfaces. With rich reddish brown color in need of cleaning. With minor veneer losses. Repair to proper right front support at shelf. Mirror plate replaced. Otherwise good. 9-22222 (1,500-2,500)
