SCARCE COLT ETCHED PANEL FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 104237. Blue & case colored with 5-1/2″ bbl, full height front sight with block letter 1-line address & an etched panel “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” on left side. It has 3-line patent dates on left side of frame & “44 C.F” on left front web of trigger guard along with a small “44” on bottom of bbl. It has 1-pc walnut grip with “224” scratched on bottom of left side. CONDITION: Good to very good, all matching including bbl & cylinder. Bbl retains 30-40% strong orig blue in sheltered areas & under ejector rod housing with balance cleaned to bright metal, apparently having been heavily rusted leaving scattered moderate to deep pitting. Frame & ejector rod housing socket also have light pitting, especially on top strap & left recoil shield. Frame retains traces of orig case colors in sheltered areas turned silver & patina elsewhere. Hammer is lightly pitted on sides. Trigger guard & backstrap retain modest amounts of orig blue with heavy pitting on front strap. Grip is sound showing light to moderate wear & a few nicks & scratches, retaining about 95% orig varnish. Will not hold on safety notch, otherwise mechanics are fine.
