WONDERFUL W.&C. SCOTT & SON PREMIER GRADE HAMMER DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 73371. Beautiful 19th century dbl with 30″ Sir Joseph Whitworth fluid compressed steel bbls & so marked on the left bbl, choked MOD/IMP-CYL. Right bbl is marked with the maker’s name & address and “THE PREMIER” in old English script. Bbls have a concave matted rib with dbl ivory beads with rib extension, dbl lump & square Greener style crossbolt. Breech end of the rib is marked “SCOTT’S IMPROVED BOLT”. Bottom of the left bbl, under the forearm, is engraved “JACK BREWER 100 STRAIGHT DEXTER PARK 1897″. Receiver has side clips with scallops around the firing pins and is spectacularly engraved with full coverage, extremely fine, foliate arabesque patterns. Lockplates, hammers, opening lever & trigger guard are engraved to match. It has checkered triggers & is fitted with highly figured French walnut with checkered splinter forearm and straight stock with raised teardrop side panels, 14-1/2″ over a solid red recoil pad. Bbl restrictions are .017 in the left side and .008 on the right side. Drop at the heel – 2″, drop at the comb – 1-3/4”. Weight:7 lbs, 8.1 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains virtually all of a very wonderful professionally restored finish to the bbls & wood. Receiver retains traces of case colors in the very sheltered areas. Lockplates retain about 80% muted orig case colors. Stock has a crack from the tip of the top tang that circles to the back of the left lockplate and there is an old professionally repaired crack through the wrist that is barely noticeable. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores. An extremely tight nitro-proofed, very shootable old shotgun. 4-56847. JR331 (8,000-14,000)
