*SIMSON HEROLD GERMAN MADE DRILLING. Cal. 16X16/9.3X72R. SN 7290. Unusual early hammerless drilling with 26-1/4″ bbl cluster with caterpillar front sight, articulated rear sight & claw mount bases containing a Gerard 4-1/2X scope with 3-post & dot reticle. Bbls have a Greener crossbolt extension with unusual dbl side lugs & extractors. It is mounted in nicely figured European walnut with checkered splinter forearm & semi-pistol grip stock with raised side panels & cheekpiece, 13-1/2″ over a basket weave pressed horn buttplate. It has sling swivels on the bbl & buttstock with a 4-cartridge toe trap. Receiver is very nicely engraved in deep Germanic style with a stag on the left side & raebuck on the right side, all surrounded by fine foliate patterns. Trigger guard & top tang are engraved to match. It has a sliding lever on the top tang for cocking the rifle hammer & raising the rear sight & it has a Greener’s thumb safety on the left side of the wrist. Front trigger is set for the rifle and there is a cocked indicator by the opening lever. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Overall retains about all of a reblued finish to the metal and a restored finish on the wood. Mechanics are fine, strong bores with good shine & light pitting in the shotgun bbls with some orange peel pitting in the rifle bore. Optics are fine. 4-56389 JR652 (1,500-2,500)
