PIPE TOMAHAWK. 9-5/16” head with drilled bowl. Filed decorations, oval eye. 23” haft has a pewter mouthpiece with filed decorations matching those on the front and back edges of the blade. It also has twelve rows of brass tacks (one is missing, it had a round iron shank) in three groups, one at the head, one in front of the 5-5/8” cord wrapping and one in the center. Purchased from the Robert L. Long collection of Kansas City, MO. Copy of his orig ledger shows he purchased it in 1947 as Cheyenne. Photocopy of Long’s orig ledger page is included. There is a museum or collectors ink number on the front of the head. CONDITION: Excellent. Age unknown. 4-60706 (3,000-4,000)
