*G.L. RASCH DRILLING. Cal. 16X16/8X57JR. SN 45060. Fine German drilling with 26-3/4″ bbl cluster. Shotgun bbls are choked FULL/FULL and it has flat matted rib with caterpillar front sight and articulated rear sight with claw mounts containing what appears to be a Zeiss or equivalent scope with crosshair & post. Scope is engraved with a large “B / Dr. W. Gerard / Optische Anstalt / Berlin W.50”. Receiver has scalloped fences with Merkel style reinforcements and has about 80% coverage, extremely fine, foliate arabesque patterns with the maker’s name and address in narrow ribbons on each side. It has a top mounted rifle thumb switch with the word “SCHROT” in gold, a Greener style side safety with the word “SICHERT” in gold and three cocked indicators on top. It has a broken & repaired horn trigger guard and dbl triggers with the front being set for the rifle. Wood is nicely figured walnut with small horn insert schnable tipped checkered forearm & pistol grip stock with side panels & carved horn grip cap with cheek piece and two added extensions, one of which is a thick horn buttplate. Stock is roach backed with a 3-cartridge trap in the comb that is engraved to match the rifle. It has European style sling swivels. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain about 95% professionally restored blue. Receiver retains case colors in the very sheltered areas with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound showing moderate to heavy wear with the forearm being a dark oiled patina. Buttstock retains most of an old restored finish. Horn covering around the cartridge trap tang is missing a small sliver and the trigger guard has a couple of repairs. Scope is mostly a brown patina with good optics.
