EXTREMELY RARE VOLCANIC CARBINE WITH DETACHABLE STOCK. Cal. 41. SN: 427 including a matching number on top of the buttplate. 16-3/8” octagonal bbl, marked “…ANIC / REPEATING ARMS CO. / PATENT NEW HAVEN CONN. FEB. 14.1854”. This marking is applied with 5 different stamps. The first 2 are very light and only partially readable. The bolt retains both prongs of the firing pin/extractor. The rear sight appears to have been casehardened. CONDITION: Smooth dark patina on the brass frame and buttplate. 50% blue mixed with light to moderate pitting on the bbl. Light pitting on the lever and attaching iron. Mechanically fine. Wood retains about 95% of the original varnish with gouges at the rear from the attaching pin. 4-52454 FS84 (10,000-15,000)
