PAINTED AND DECORATED COFFEE TABLE IN THE ORIENTAL PALETTE. 18th and 20th Century. A designer coffee table comprised of a 20th century frame, green paint and gilt decorated with craquelure. Inset with a fine polychrome painted, leather panel depicting a processional, now mounted on a board and displayed beneath a glass top within the table. It is our feeling that the painted hide surface was once a covering for a camphor trunk, probably Chinese Export, 1st half 19th Century. SIZE: 14″h (overall), 46-3/4″l x 25″w. Panel 43″ x 21″. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection (F.W. Woolworth Dept. Store). CONDITION: Overall in very good condition. The table with wear from use. The painted panel with some water damage along top floral border and outer border. 9-21285 (600-900)
