ENGLISH CHIPPENDALE STYLE JAPANNED CABINET ON STAND. 2nd half 20th century. Fine benchmade example, chinoisserie decorated on black ground in two parts. Rectangular cabinet mounted with filigreed cast brass hinges, escutcheons and mounts. Decorated overall with pastoral scenes with figures in foreground. Doors opening to an interior fitted with an arrangement of drawers, all with chinoisserie decoration. Fitted to the conforming stand raised on square tapered legs with reticulated reserves. Legs joined by a medial shelf. SIZE: Overall 68″ h x 46-1/2″ w x 17-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: Robert Frederick Woolworth Estate, Monmouth, Maine. (F.W. Woolworth Store).
