GALLE WHEELCARVED VASE. Magnificent Galle vase is entirely wheelcarved with purple and pink flowers, stems, and leaves and a large, intricately carved flying grasshopper. The lip of the vase is delicately carved with a rope design just above a frosted band of martele. Just below the lip the vase is engraved with the following words: “Dis aux petitsque les etes sont couverts le colchique des alpes”. The colors and quality of wheelcarving are absolutely exceptional on this vase. Signed on the bottom with engraved signature “E. Galle” and dated “1895”. The signature is further enhanced with a wheelcarved flower matching those on the vase. SIZE: 7-1/4″ h. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 5-67773 (8,000-12,000)
