LOUIS XVI STYLE CARVED WALNUT DUCHESSE BRISEE. Late 19th, early 20th Century. This chaise longue in two parts, the arm chair with arched and curved crest rail carved with layered leaf tips, the crest with bow tied ribbon, continuing downwards to arms, the grips carved with leaf tips and scrolled volutes on incurved supports, centering an upholstered seat and back, both originally caned, raised on tapered cylindrical legs with stop-fluting. The seat with bowed rail. The stool similarly carved with incurved opposing sides designed to nest within the chair seat rail. SIZE: Height of back is 38-1/2″. Height of seat is 15″. Height of stool is 15″. Overall length is 58″. CONDITION: Later upholstery is clean. Frames originally caned, presumably intact for recaning to original form. 9-97612 (300-500)
