*BEAUTIFUL C. HELLIS & SONS DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 3568. Fine English dbl with 28″ bbls choked FULL/IMP-CYL with smooth tapered rib, sgl bead, dbl lump with 3rd bite extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. It has a boxlock receiver with tiny sideplates & has full coverage arabesque pattern engraving with the maker’s name on each side. Opening lever, breech end of the rib & forend iron are engraved to match & all three have an inlaid gold “1”. Top tang has “SAFE” in gold. It is mounted with nicely figured English walnut with checkered splinter forearm and straight stock with raised teardrop side panels, 14-5/8″ over a checkered butt. Bottom of the stock has a silver, initial plate engraved “C.F.Z. JR”. Drop at the heel 2-3/4”, drop at the comb 1-5/8”. Bore restrictions: left – .052, right – .005. Weight: 6 lbs. 6.1 oz. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbls retain 96-97% orig blue with slight muzzle edge wear & two small dings on the left side. Receiver is silvered case hardening with bright colors in very sheltered areas. Wood is sound with several nicks & dings and the buttstock with normal handling marks & scratches and retains about 95% orig varnish. Crisp mechanics, bright shiny bores. 4-56388 JR467 (2,500-4,000)
