INUIT SOAPSTONE CARVING OF AN ESKIMO IN KAYAK WITH SEAL. Three part carving having a shaped kayak with tapering form with a removable Eskimo which holds a double paddle in its outstretched hands. A small removable seal on the back. Signed on the bottom and dated “76”. SIZE: 13″ l x 4″ h. PROVENANCE: Collection of Elwyn Dearborn, Medford, NJ & Portland, ME. CONDITION: Two paddle ends are detached but present, otherwise very good. 9-96145-7 (250-400)
