CASED AYA MODEL 37 SUPERPOSED SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 12 ga. SN 421942. Fine Merkel style, superposed shotgun with two sets of bbls, one 28-1/8″ choked FULL/IMP-MOD and the other 26″ choked IMP-CYL/IMP-CYL. Both have flat matted ribs with sgl bead and the numbers “1” and “2” in gold at the chamber ends. Bbls have dbl bites with dbl bbl extensions for Greener crossbolt with ejectors & sgl non-selective trigger. It is mounted with very highly figured streaky French or English walnut with Merkel style 3-pc forearm with a sgl bottom section for both bbls. It has pistol grip stock, 13-3/4″ over a checkered butt. Left side of the bbls has the maker’s name & the right sides are engraved “CYRIL S. ADAMS – HOUSTON, TEXAS.” Bottom of the stock has a gold inlaid “S”. Accompanied by an orig brown leather, green felt-lined, trunk case with maker’s label in the lid. Receiver & detachable lockplates are beautifully engraved in very fine English style rose & scroll patterns with about 80% coverage. Maker’s name is on each side of the receiver. Lock mechanism is gold-plated and inside the lockplates are jeweled. Drop at the heel 1-1/2″, drop at the comb 1-3/8″. Bore restrictions: 28″ bbls top – .030, bottom – .029. 26″ bbls top – .010, bottom – .008. Weight with 26″ bbls: 7 lbs. 0.1 oz. .Also accompanied by a letter from Cyril S. Adams stating that he did import a few of these guns for his customers. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls all retain about 98% strong orig blue with only minor edge wear. Receiver & lockplates have been polished bright which appears to be orig factory work although the insides are case colored. A catalogue, which accompanies this lot, shows an identical gun with polished receiver & lockplates. Bottom of the forearm has two small grain checks, otherwise the wood is sound with minor nicks & scratches and retains most of its orig oil finish. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bores.
