RUSSIAN ICON OF MADONNA & CHILD. An interesting icon having a velvet back over a curved wood panel topped with a gold surface framing the head of a painted Madonna & child. Cyrillic writing at left center (Kazanskya). The gold has some polychrome decoration and a nice embossed border with winged cherub heads at corners. SIZE: 14″ x 12-1/2″. CONDITION: Some wear to polychrome coloring, curve in board, otherwise very good. 9-23166 (1,500-2,000)
