MABEL MAY WOODWARD (American, 1877-1945) SUMMER BEACH SCENE. Oil on canvas scene shows a large expansive beach with groups of bathers on towels, under umbrellas and walking the beach. The ocean is beyond with crashing surf and a sailboat is on the horizon. Signed lower left, “M. Woodward”(last part of the name with smudged letters). Housed in a modern gilt, molded-wood frame. SIZE: 17-3/4” x 25-3/4”. CONDITION: The canvas has a thick clear varnish layer which was taken off with the exception of the signature area. 9-74938 MD (3,000-5,000)
