*SPECTACULAR AND RARE FOX MODEL FE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal 12 ga. SN 18280. Wonderful rare Fox with 30″ bbls choked FULL/FULL, tapered concave matted rib with single silver bead, rib extension with square crossbolt slot with ejectors and dbl triggers. The receiver and about 3″ up the bbls are engraved with very beautiful foliate and floral arabesque patterns with a gold bird dog on each side. The bottom has a large vignette of a partridge and two quail and the trigger bow small vignette of flying duck. The hinge pin has a gold circle on each end and “SAFE” is in gold on the top tang. The bbls have a gold lightning bolt in the engraving over each chamber and there is gold line at the breech end of the rib. The bbls are engraved “Krupp Fluid Steele Made to Order By” on the right side and “A.H. Fox Gun Co., Phila. PA. U.S.A.” on the left side. It is mounted with spectacular honey and chocolate marble cake Circassian walnut wood with very fine checkered, full coverage, splinter forearm carved in fleur de lis and ribbon patterns. The stock has a round knob semi-pistol grip with fleur de lis carved checkered side panels with matching fleur de lis and ribbon patterns on the wrist. It is 14-1/4″ over a serrated hard rubber buttplate. Accompanied by a dbl end brown leather Leg-O-Mutton case that is marked on the lid with the Iver Johnson stamp and the brass plate on the side of the body is engraved in period script “F.N. Beal / Phillips, / Maine.” Drop at the heel 2-9/16″, drop at the comb 1-9/16″, weight 7lbs 4.2oz. Bore restrictions: left .034; right .036. Wall thickness: left .034; right .032. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Nearly new. May have been fired but if so very little. Overall retains virtually all of its orig factory finish to both metal and wood. Bbl blue is strong and bright with only extremely minor sharp edge wear. Receiver retains virtually all of its orig strong case colors with some slight thinning on the outer edges of the fences. Trigger guard retains most all of its orig factory blue. Stock and forearm have a few scattered very minor nicks and scratches. Crisp mechanics. Bright shiny bores. Case is dry with crackled surface and a detached leather hinge. 4-57465 JR (25,000-50-000)
