*SPECTACULAR CASED PIOTTI KING-1 GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 28 ga. SN 8375. Fabulous dbl made for Frank Pachmayr and so marked on the bottom of each right bbl and on the water table as Model “Pachmayr Extra”. It has 8 pin sidelocks with 26″ & 28″ bbls numbered “1” & “2” respectively with flat tapered matted ribs with sgl silver bead with the #1 bbls choked MOD/IMP-CYL and the #2 bbls choked MOD/MOD. They have ejectors, dbl chopper lumps, & sgl non-selective matted trigger with right hand trigger guard. It is mounted with spectacular burled French or Circassian walnut with checkered beavertail forearm & pistol grip stock with raised side panels & diamond shaped grip, 14-1/2″ over a checkered butt. Bottom of the stock has a gold initial plate engraved “DONATED / TO DUCKS / UNLIMITED / BY NAN AND / FRANK / PACHMAYR”. Receiver & lockplates are extraordinarily engraved with a full game scene in Bulino style with three gold flying doves in a very detailed field scene on the left lockplate, three gold flying quail in a very detailed field scene on the right lockplate and an extraordinarily detailed pointer holding a dead quail in a field scene on the floorplate. All three scenes are signed “Balneari”. Receiver & about 1/3 of the floorplate, along with the trigger guard, top tang & opening lever have full coverage, extremely fine foliate arabesque patterns & sprays of flower blossoms. Opening lever has a gold crown & the top tang has “S” in gold. Screw heads are engraved to match with the floorplate screw completely masked by engraving. Forend iron is engraved to match and the forearm has the gold Piotti crest in the center diamond. Accompanied by its orig, burgundy leather, green felt-lined, trunk case with the maker’s label in the lid, a pair of nickel snap caps and the orig Piotti felt sleeves. Drop at the heel 1-7/8″, drop at the comb 1-5/16″. Bore restrictions: #1: left – .006, right – .005. #2: left – .008, right – .008. Weight with 26″ bbls: 5 lbs. 8.1 oz. This gun if ordered today would probably cost in the range of $60,000. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine with a few minor nicks in the stock finish, otherwise appears new & retains virtually all of its brilliant orig factory finish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant bores.
