ELISHA TAYLOR BAKER (American, 1827-1890) EVENING ENCAMPMENT. Outstanding oil on canvas evening scene shows two figures around a fire beside a wrecked two-mast ship. The full moon rises and is half obscured by clouds. Sailboats can be seen on a choppy sea and the moon reflects in a crashing wave. Housed in an outstanding reproduction antique gesso decorated carved frame with gilt liner having title and artist plaque. Signed on reverse with conjoined initials and last name. SIZE: 12” x 22”.
