FANTASTIC WINCHESTER ALEXANDER POPE TIN ADVERTISING SIGN. Wonderful classic advertising piece in the trompe l’oeile style that Alexander Pope was known for. It measures 36″ high x 30″ wide. This is one of Winchester’s most famous & sought after advertising pieces. Produced in limited quantities and distributed to Winchester’s favorite dealers, these great signs are seldom encountered & very, very rarely ever with any condition. Image consists of moose antlers, with a Winchester ’86 rifle & Model 12 shotgun, with hunting bag, shot & powder flask & powder horn with three dead ducks. Advertising at the bottom is on a small plaque. Artist’s signature is at the bottom left. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus. Retains virtually all of its fine orig finish with a few minor nicks & scratches and one surface scratch over the right antler and another directly below that has been touched up. There are two or three small edge dents that do not affect the image. Colors are vivid & bright with crisp image. You are not likely to ever see another this fine. 4-57045 JR781 (6,000-10,000)
