GEORGE WASHINGTON NICHOLSON (American, 1832-1912) PIRATES BOOTY. Outstanding oil on wood panel scene shows six pirates sitting on a large array of recently plundered booty while another pirate uses a spyglass to view a distant sailboat. Three pirates walk from a beach and a large white cliff is seen on right side. Pink, blue and yellow sky with seagull flying overhead. Two horses are seen on right side. Signed lower left “GW Nicholson”. Housed in what appears to be its magnificent original wide gesso decorated multiple layered gilt frame. SIZE: 22” x 29”.
