SPECTACULAR CASED ALEXANDER HENRY BEST QUALITY SGL SHOT HUNTING RIFLE. Cal. 450 3-1/4″. SN 3308. Fabulous falling block hunting rifle with 28-1/8″ rnd bbl with pedestal mounted front sight & 2-leaf platinum line express rear sight with Metford rifling. It has the maker’s name and patent number on top of the bbl with another patent number on the top flat of the receiver. It has a left mounted, contoured, back action lock with hammer and stalking safety. It is mounted in extremely beautiful, burl, streaky Circassian walnut with Henry’s trademark checkered forearm with scalloped tip and pistol grip stock, 14″ over a checkered steel buttplate. It has serpentine shaped lever that forms around the trigger guard. Receiver, lockplate, top tang, lever & lower tang are beautifully engraved with extraordinarily fine foliate arabesque patterns and have the maker’s name in a ribbon on the lockplate. Grip cap is sculpted horn. Accompanied by its orig, green felt-lined, leather, trunk case-compartmented for the rifle, a full set of loading tools, a 3-section ebony cleaning rod, two turn screws, a spanner wrench, small wooden parts box containing two spare firing pins & a spring, a ten pocket leather cartridge pouch containing four live rnds and a box of Kynoch cartridges containing four live rnds. Also included is a glass, Woodward & Sons, nickel top, oil bottle with green label & an orig, Henry, rnd-bodied bullet mold with sprue cutter. Maker’s label is inside the lid. Weight: 6 lbs. 14.1 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains about 98% strong bright orig blue. Receiver & lockplate retain most of their orig subtle case colors turning dark. Wood is sound with minor nicks & scratches showing moderate wear on the checkering & retains most of its fine hand rubbed finish.
