KOKEN CHILD’S BARBER CHAIR WITH POLYCHROME PAINTED HORSE HEAD. Early 20th century. Porcelain hydraulic chair with tan leather seat and back pads and with chrome trim. The adjustable chrome foot rest marked “Koken” in script and mounted with an original carved wood polychrome painted horse head with glass eyes. A similar example sold April, 2011 at Showtime Auction in Missouri, Lot 1431. A second similar example was sold at Rich Penn Auctions, May 2011, Lot 905. SIZE: Chair: 44-1/2″ h; Horse head: 19″ l x approx. 16″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Massachusetts Collection. CONDITION: Very good overall retaining original seat and back. Chrome with wear to footrest and with some wear to base. Painted surfaces on horse head appear original with normal and expected wear. Glass eyes intact. 9-22332 (3,000-6,000)
