WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL SGL SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 38-56. SN 64276. Standard grade rifle with 30″ #3 weight oct bbl, half-nickel front sight with screw, slot blank in the rear seat and a modified short base mid-range tang sight with a hole drilled in the top tang to accommodate the short base. It has nicely figured American walnut wood with black insert Schnable tip forearm and straight stock with musket style buttplate. There is a non-factory swivel base in the buttstock. CONDITION: Good to very good. No orig finish remains with the metal being a medium gray/brown patina with spots of darker discoloration. Wood is sound with light dings & bruises and has a fine hand rubbed patina. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with moderate pitting. Roger & Gerald Wilde Collection 4-55414 JR33 (1,250-2,250)
