5 CENT WATLING ROL-A-TOP COIN FRONT SLOT MACHINE w/ORIGINAL SHIPPING CRATE. An outstanding gambling machine, circa 1930s, with an earlier style wooden cabinet and the more desirable American coins decorating the front castings. In very fine all original condition from paint to reel strips to the finish on the wooden cabinet. The mechanical play action is also very smooth! This machine has a variety of American coins spilling out of the cornucopia and cascading about the upper casting. The lower casting is decorated with an Eagle in the center and a “string” of coins adorning the right and left side. Perhaps one of the most visually appealing slot machines ever produced and hence the reason why these machines are highly sought after by collectors. The wooden shipping crate retains the infamous Watling “Blue Seal” trademark which is identical to the decal on the side of the machine itself. This machine retains its original back door, marked with a “W” in a circle and its original money box as well. SIZE: 15″ w x 25″ h x 15″ d. CONDITION: Overall very fine original condition, lacking back door lock and some damage/loss to interior aluminum lip on rear bonnet. 1-8581 JL (4,500-5,500)
