LARGE AMERICAN BOWIE KNIFE. 11-5/8” clip point blade with 4-1/2” sharpened false edge. Unmarked. S-curve crossguard with ball quillions. 1-pc wood grip with checkered diamonds on each side. The leather scabbard has a brass throat and tip. This knife is pictured in The BOWIE KNIFE by Norm Flayderman, p. 128 where it is described as “probably Yankee”. CONDITION: Light to moderate pitting in spots on the blade. Dark patina with light pitting on the crossguard. Hilt has minor dents and scratches. Leather scabbard has some flaking with scratches on the front and light dents on the rear. Throat and tip are both bent with cracks on the tip. 4-58193 (12,000-15,000)
