ANSONIA CAST BRASS “RENAISSANCE” MANTEL CLOCK. Circa 1894. This fine and rare Renaissance-revival cast brass and spelter clock decorated overall with lion’s mask, serpents, and supported by winged Griffins, all on a rectangular classical base, raised on stylized dolphins with enameled Roman numeral chapter ring. The 8-day brass movement with half hour gong strike. Clock is offered with original cast pendulum centered with the letter “A”. The brass back plate of the movement marked, “ANSONIA CLOCK Co./PATENTED JUNE 14,81/NEW YORK, U.S.A.” SIZE: 16-1/2″h (overall) x 16″l x 5-1/2″d. CONDITION: Clock case with original surfaces. Movement and pendulum appear original. Crack in the number “8” enameled numeral. Good overall. 9-23481 (1,000-2,000)
