MILTON JAMES BURNS (American, 1853-1933) ILLUSTRATION – “SCHOOL OF SHARKS”. Fine monochromatic oil illustration for Charles Lewis Shaws story, this being the illustration on page 14 “The Thrasher Shark in its Agony Gave a Leap out of the Water”. Large illustration shows two men on a capsized boat with a caught shark being held by chain and line by both men. Two other sharks are seen circling and an oncoming boat with man with harpoon is close. Signed “Burns 96”. Information on whitened border and pencil inscription on back. Housed in a black molded gilt edged frame with white matte. SIGHT SIZE: 15” x 18-1/2”. CONDITION: Good with craquelure and some very light chipping. 9-29418 (2,500-3,500)
