FRANCOIS DEBLOIS (American, 1829-1913) NEW ENGLAND LANDSCAPE. Oil on canvas laid on aluminum late afternoon scene shows a lakeside farm with large dock, cows in the grass field lined with flowers. A woman is on the dock feeding four ducks and the sun shines low casting light on the sides of the houses. Several other houses are seen on low hill. All under a cloud and blue sky. Signed lower right with conjoined first initials “FB DeBlois 1868”. Probably a scene outside of Boston, Massachusetts where he was known to work. Housed in a molded wood replacement frame. SIZE: 26” x 36”. CONDITION: Aluminum backing, restored with inpainting. Good. 9-73636 LG (3,000-5,000)
