HENRY BIRKS CLASSICAL REVIVAL MAHOGANY TALL CASE CLOCK. Last quarter 19th century. Montreal, Canada. The swan’s neck pediment alternating with brass reeded ball spires above the astragal arched door with beveled glass panel flanked by fluted free standing colonnettes joined to the case with concave molded frieze above an arched door with rectangular beveled glass panel flanked by engaged fluted quarter columns joined to the box base with concave molded corners, and with square molded panel raised on ogee bracket feet. Note: Beneath the base board of case in pencil script “Chs. Di..y/Novembre 9, 1898/Montreal”. The silver dial marked “HENRY BIRKS & CO MONTREAL” above time and strike apertures and with seconds and calendar subsidiary dials within Arabic and Roman numeral chapter rings. The silver dial mounted on a brass plate cast with classical spandrels, the arch mounted with a moon phase dial. This clock is offered with pendulum, weights, winder and door keys. SIZE: 97″ h x 14″ w. (throat) x 12-1/2″ d. CONDITION: The case professionally cleaned and re-polished with good color and patina. Movement appears clean and in working order. Silvered dial tarnished but with original surfaces. Moon phase dial with some paint loss. Finials appear original. Overall very good. 9-22372 (4,000-6,000)
