SMITH & WESSON SMALL FRAME VOLCANIC PISTOL. SN D18. Cal. 31. 4-1/8” part oct bbl. marked “SMITH & WESSON / NORWICH. CT.” on the top flat of the bbl. “PATENT / FEB. 14. 1854” on the left flat and “CAST-STEEL” on the right flat. The frame has the typical large scroll engraving with no background. CONDITION: Gray patina mixed with light to moderate pitting overall. Grips have some light chips missing at the escutcheon but retain about half of the varnish. A general letter from Smith & Wesson accompanies the pistol. Action is good. 4-57159 FS30 (4,000-5,000)
