WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 LEVER ACTION SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 44 RF Henry. SN 153859. Standard carbine with 20″ rnd bbl, full magazine, integral front sight & bbl band with 2-position flip rear sight. There is a small “S” stamped behind the rear sight, in front of the receiver. Left side of the receiver has a staple & ring. Wood is uncheckered American walnut with straight stock & brass carbine buttplate with trap. CONDITION: Good. No orig finish remains with the iron being a smooth dark brown attic patina. All bbl legends are legible. Receiver shows moderate to heavy wear with rounded edges & light nicks & scratches. Stock has hairlines on each side of the wrist and another at the heel and the forearm has a crack at the tip on each side. Stock has myriad small scratches along with a large gouge & other handling & use marks. Forearm also shows heavy wear. Mechanics are fine, strong dark bore with moderate to heavy pitting. Lever is probably from an 1873 as it is too short to reach the lever lock. Pierre Renaud Collection 4-55641 JR239 (4,000-7,000)
