HENRY MODEL 1860 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 RF Henry. SN 2631. Standard Henry rifle with 24-1/4″ oct bbl with integral magazine tube, German silver front sight and Henry ladder rear sight. Receiver is the early type and is also slotted for the ladder sight. Buttplate is also the early type with rounded heel. Buttstock, an old replacement, has an orig Henry swivel on the left side with a corresponding swivel attached to the left side of the bbl. Serial number appears on the left side of the lower tang under the wood and in the toe of the buttplate. There is a small backwards “E” also on the left side of the lower tang. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl & magazine tube retain a dark brown attic patina under a heavy coating of old dried oil. Part of the bbl address has been obliterated by a ding across the top flat that has been smoothed out. Receiver has good edges over the top, slightly rounded on the bottom at the carry point. Replacement buttstock retains most of an old refinish. Rotating loading sleeve is numbered “33”, which does not correspond with the serial number. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with light to moderate pitting. Pierre Renaud Collection 4-55639 JR240 (8,000-15,000)
