OAK ENGLISH SGL ACTION ARMY CASING. Fine oak casing, 14-3/4″ long x 7-1/8″ wide x 2-1/2″ deep. It has a round brass medallion in the lid & burgundy felt lining with the Piccadilly Circus Colt’s label in the lid. It is partitioned for the revolver & has a brass tipped ebony cleaning rod & a trapezoidal shaped compartment missing its lid. It also has an oak cartridge block that apparently held thirty-three 45 caliber cartridges. It appears that the partition around the cartridge block has been moved & the length of the block reduced to accommodate a different revolver that had a lanyard loop in the butt. There has been a slot cut at the butt to clear the lanyard stud. CONDITION: Very fine. It has minor nicks & scratches, missing the front lock escutcheon, otherwise is sound & retains most of its orig varnish. Lining is slightly faded & soiled with some mothing in the lid. 4-57360 JR787 (1,500-2,000)
