“ALFONSE AND GASTON” CAR. Manufactured by Kenton Mfg. Co. This toy is pictured in the 1911 Kenton Hardware Mfg. Co. catalog. Orange car with gaily painted red wheels driven by Gloomy Gus with Alfonse and Gaston as the happy passengers. As the car is pulled along the floor one can just imagine Alfonse nodding “Before you, Gaston,” as Gaston returns with his “Before you, Alfonse.” An imaginative twist on these commonly found comic characters from the 1911 funnies, this toy would be a prized addition to any comic character collection.
