COLLECTION OF CIVIL WAR EPAULETS, INSIGNIA AND BRASS BUTTONS. Third quarter 19th century. Belonging to 2nd Lt. Ned Jenness by descent through the family. This small collection includes a pair of epaulets from the 1st Infantry Regiment and made by Horstmann Company. Also included, a patch affixed with crossed brass cannons beneath the silvered numerals “1784”. A brass insignia of crossed swords to which is attached a shield emblem embossed “BSR”. Also included is a collection of 14 large brass uniform buttons and 14 smaller uniform buttons all embossed “BSR” representing “Boston School Regiment Military Academy”. Inscribed on the back of each button is name of manufacturer “John R. Farrel Boston”. Accompanying this lot are three photographs of Mr. Jenness. All presented within the original tole epaulet box. The lid inscribed “E. R. Jenness” SIZE: Box: 5-1/2″ h x 9-1/2″ l x 7″ w.
