TWO ARTIST PLASTER SCULPTURES. JAN & JOEL MARTEL (French, 1896-1966) “A MONSIEUR L’ABBE ROUSSEAU”. 1) Jan & Joel Martel (French, 1896-1966) “A Monsieur L’Abbe Rousseau”. Cream patinated terracotta sculpture of a seated man with hands in his lap wearing a suit and wide rimmed hat. Title inscribed and signed “J. J. Martel” on base. A wonderful Cubist sculpture. 2) P. Giovanni (Early 20th Century) “THE VENZTECORE”. Painted plaster sculpture shows a seated semi-nude woman bent at the waist, arms at her knees and head down. Signed and inscribed “The Venztecore. P. Giovanni Sculptor”. The sculpture with dark cream patina. SIZE: 1) 16-1/4″ h x 8-1/4″ d x 4-1/4″ w. 2) 9″ h x 14″ l x 6-1/2″ w. CONDITION: 1) Hat repair, small flakes and chips to base and some minor patina loss. 2) Several small paint chips, generally very good. 9-95152, 9-95361 (800-1,200)
