PAIR OF NEW ENGLAND EIGHT-SPINDLE BOW-BACK SIDE CHAIRS BRANDED “T. C. HAYWARD”. Bottoms branded on each chair and represent the work of Thomas Cotton Hayward, turner working circa 1790-1820 in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Chairs originally in red paint have an old grain painting presently. Bamboo style turnings on the back spindle, legs and stretchers. Nice carved saddle seat. PROVENANCE: From a fine downeast Maine home. SIZE: 37-1/2” h x 18” seat h. CONDITION: Very good. 9-29365 (1000-2000)
