COLT SGL ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 41 Colt. SN 140006. Usual configuration with 5-1/2″ bbl, fixed sights, 2-line patent markings with rampant Colt in a broken circle. It has smooth 2-pc ivory grips. It is accompanied by a Colt Factory letter identifying this revolver with a silver finish and ivory grips as having been shipped May 27, 1891 to William Challen, Jr, address not indicated. Inside the grips in the left side is scratched the name “JACK LAND” and inside the right grip is scratched either the “77” or “17” “RANCH” with the name “BUCK CAMP” and “WYO”. Preliminary Google search disclosed that there is actually a 77 Ranch in Wyoming. CONDITION: Good plus. Orig silver finish remains only under the ejector rod housing and in the sight groove with traces in the loading cut-out. Balance of the revolver is a mottled silver/brown patina with a spot of heavy rust on the bbl about 1″ in front of the frame. Frame & back strap have scattered fine pitting, as does the cylinder. Cylinder pin screw & front trigger guard screw are replacements. Safety notch is missing and it will not hold at half cock, otherwise mechanics are fine, strong bore with light to moderate pitting. Grips are extremely fine with a few age lines in the bottom and both sides retain a wonderful smooth mellow gold patina. A rare Colt that has seen some hard use. 4-57436 (3,000-5,000)
