COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. WITH TEXAS ASSOCIATION. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 149050. Blue & case colored with 7-1/2″ bbl, orig front sight, and 1-line block letter address with roll mark “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER”. Frame has rampant Colt in a circle with 2-line patent dates. Fitted with 1-pc pearl grips. Accompanied by a Colt Factory letter fully identifying this revolver with ivory grips & showing shipment Dec. 29, 1892 to “Colt’s Patent Fire-Arms Mfg. Company / c/o B. Buckner / Laredo, Texas” in a shipment of 300 same type guns. This leads one to speculate that this large shipment was probably for the Mexican Government. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 15-20% orig blue, mostly on bottom & in sheltered areas with balance a smooth light plum/brown patina. Ejector rod housing retains about 60-70% orig blue, thin & turning patina on outside edge. Frame is mostly a mottled blue/brown patina with some silvered case hardening in sheltered areas & has a spot of deep pitting on top strap. Trigger guard & backstrap retain traces of orig blue with some spots of moderate pitting on straps. Cylinder is a smooth light patina. Grip is sound with a small chip on each side at frame & with tiny chips on the heels, otherwise retains great fire with good color. Fine mechanics, battered cylinder pin, screws are mostly all good with battered base pin screw. Bright shiny bore with a few scattered spots of light pitting. 4-57589 JR267 (2,500-4,500)
