COLT SGL ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Colt. SN 129356. Nickel finish, 4-3/4″ bbl, and fixed sights with eagle rampant Colt hard rubber grips. Frame has 3-line patent dates and the left front web of the trigger guard is marked “38 CAL”. Accompanied by a Colt Factory letter fully identifying this revolver and indicating shipment June 17, 1899 to R.R. Buffham, address not indicated in a shipment of six similar arms. Under remarks in the letter is the statement “Notation also show ‘Colt Cartridge'”. (No indication of what this means.) CONDITION: About fine. Overall retains 75-80% orig nickel with losses at the muzzle, end of the ejector rod housing, cylinder, rear edge of the frame, recoil shield, loading gate & back strap. Areas of loss on the frame & cylinder are heavily pitted. Remainder of the nickel is bright & strong. These losses are commensurate with long-term storage in a holster in humid or damp conditions.
