FINE CHINESE CARVED HARDWOOD SHELF CLOCK, SUZHOU. Unusual clock with brass time and strike crown wheel movement and two striking bells signed on the back plate. The circular enamel dial with sweep second hand, filigree hour and minute hands, within Roman and Arabic numeral chaptering. The dial is set within a craved bronze faceplate, framed within a hardwood carved case. The front and sides with glass panels, the rear with intricately pierce carved sliding screen. The case fitted within a carved bracket trestle base, further mounted on a low swivel stand raised on short cabriole legs. SIZE: Clock case: 13″ h x 10-3/4″ w x 5-1/2″ d. Assembled size: 23″ h x 13-3/4″ w x 11-1/4″ d. CONDITION: Carved wooden elements in very fine condition with original surfaces. Brass movement appears intact and clean. 9-96520 (1,500-2,500)
