COLT LONDON SGL ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 455. SN 140859. Fine early English Colt with Colt’s Pall Mall London address, blue & case colored with 7-1/2″ bbl, having an odd-shaped, Walter Winans’ inspired, large, target sight with partridge type blade. It has case colored frame with 1-pc walnut grip and tiny British proofs on the bbl & cylinder. It has a stud & lanyard ring centered in the butt. Apparently Colt had a few of these revolvers made up with this front sight to attempt to lure Mr. Winans away from Smith & Wesson. Mr. Winans was a Russian born author & British shooting champion at Bisley & Wimbledon for many years running and in his day was a recognized world champion. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 75-80% smooth blue/brown with bright blue in the sheltered areas. Ejector rod housing retains about 95% strong, bright, orig blue. Cylinder retains 50-60% flaked orig blue mixed with light patina & the frame about all of its orig case colors, strong & bright in the sheltered areas with some fading & thinning on the sides & top. Screws are fine & retain virtually all of their orig blue. Grip frame overall retains 75-80% orig blue thin on the straps. Grip is crisp with slightly worn edges & retains most of its orig finish. Will not hold on safety notch, otherwise mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore. 4-57359 JR634 (6,000-10,000)
