ANTIQUE COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. NOTE: The correct SN for this is 57625 NOT 67625 as the catalogue description states and gun is therefore exact same gun as detailed in the Colt Factory letter for SN 57625. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 67625. Blue & case colored with 7-1/2″ bbl, 1-line block letter address with “FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” etched panel on left side. It has a tiny “44” on bottom of bbl & serial number under ejector rod housing. It has 3-line patent dates with 1-pc walnut grip. Serial number is also found on cylinder. Accompanied by a Colt Factory letter identifying this revolver but not listing bbl length or type of stocks. It lists shipping date as July 23, 1880 to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis, Missouri in a shipment of fifty like guns. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 40-50% orig blue, glossy & bright under & around ejector rod housing, strong in sheltered areas with balance a mottled silver/blue patina. Etched panel has been cleaned, apparently to remove some light surface rust & light pitting but is still mostly all legible. There is fine pitting in various spots on bbl. Frame retains 75-80% orig case colors, strong & bright in sheltered areas, turning to patina elsewhere. Hammer retains 65-70% faded case colors. Grip frame retains 40-50% orig blue, mostly in sheltered areas. Cylinder retains 40-50% blue, strong in flutes, thin & fading to patina on outside diameter. Grip is sound with moderately worn edges & light handling & use marks and retains about 90% orig varnish. Crisp mechanics, bright shiny bore with some light pitting near muzzle. 4-57586 JR273 (3,000-5,000)
