IVORY BOX. Late 19th century, Japan. Meiji Period (1868-1912). Circular form. Surface carved in relief with lions, tigers and monkeys. With remnants of polychrome decoration. With lion head finial. Signed on base. SIZE: 3-1/2″ h x 3 dia. PROVENANCE: A wedding gift to the grandmother of the current owner at the time of her marriage in 1891. CONDITION: Very good. Surfaces with nice patina.
